The Netcare 4mm 70° Rigid Sinuscope is a wide-angle endoscope used by ENT surgeons for posterior and superior sinus visualization — specifically the frontal recess, frontal sinus, and sphenoid sinus — where straight and 30° scopes cannot reach. The 70° viewing angle is essential for frontal sinusotomy procedures and inspection of the posterior ethmoid complex, giving surgeons a retrograde view into cavities that are anatomically difficult to access.
HD rod-lens system with high-resolution optics. 4mm outer diameter, 175mm working length, surgical-grade stainless steel. Compatible with the Netcare fiber optic light cable and 120W/100W LED cold light sources. Autoclavable to 134°C. Best used alongside the 0° and 30° scopes as part of a complete sinuscopy set.

When is a 70° sinuscope used instead of a 30°?
The 70° scope is used for visualization of the frontal recess, frontal sinus, and sphenoid sinus — areas where neither the 0° nor 30° can provide adequate retrograde views. It is essential for frontal sinusotomy (Draf I, II, III) and inspection of the posterior ethmoid complex. Most ENT surgeons reach for the 70° after completing middle meatal work with the 30°.
Is the 70° sinuscope difficult to use?
The 70° scope requires additional practice due to mirror-image view orientation — movements appear reversed compared to lower-angle scopes. It is generally used by experienced ENT surgeons and is not the first scope taught to residents. Simulator training before live cases is recommended.
Can the 70° sinuscope be used for maxillary sinus inspection?
Yes. After maxillary antrostomy, the 70° scope provides retrograde visualization into the maxillary sinus through the natural ostium, inspecting the posterior and lateral walls where the 0° and 30° cannot reach.
What light source and cable does the 70° sinuscope require?
Standard 4.5mm fiber optic connector, compatible with Netcare's 100W and 120W LED cold light sources and all Storz-type light cables. Autoclavable to 134°C.
